I just built a new machine with an ASUS A7V motherboard, and an aMD duron 650. i installed windows98 and whenever i boot my comnputer up, i get the error "while initializing device VCACHE: windows protection error, you need to restart your computer" and every time i do restart it says this. PLEASE HELP

How much memory do you have? If it is better than 512Mb, try setting the Vcache/maxvcache option in your "system.ini" file to 512000 or the Hex equivelent.
Also see the Microsoft Website for "Vcache" options.

I am having troubles like this now...I might have answered my own question!

vcache setting is in the system.ini file, mine is mincache=32768 maxcache=32768
I'm running WinME with 256mb of ram
