Hi...Can anyone help me here. I'm getting the above message on boot up.
Also machine doesn't boot up at all sometimes. I tried removing the battery and replacing it after a few minutes, also rechecked the BIOS settings.

Any ideas ?

Pls help !!

Sounds like it doesn't like a setting in CMOS. If there is a modem in there, remove it and see if the error keeps coming up. Are you taking the defaults with your CMOS settings?

RhysK:

I've had that problem in past and new battery always solved it. Then I attempted to install an additional LPT and some more memory. Rebooted and got dreaded "cmos checksum error - defaults loaded" message. I tried multiple new batteries, rechecked cmos/bios settings, pulled LPT install, pulled memory, everything. But nothing helped. I even reflashed bios. After a point I said "screw this" and bought a new motherboard, which was an upgrade so no huge loss. Maybe you have a bad ROM chip... I don't know -- wish I did -- but I empathize with you.. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Good luck!

Hi guys,

I suspected as much. I've pretty much tried everything. I think I'll just have to take the hit. It looks like I'll have to invest in a new motherboard.
Thks for all yr suggestions anyway.

thats a common problem even with new motherboards. it usually fixes the problem is you do a bios update so before youre ready to deep 6 your mobo i would go to their site and try that first. worked for me on 2 seperate boards.
