I've got a CAD program (home design)that won't print for me. It takes the job and puts it in the queue for printer and sits there. Printer icon comes on when executed but will not print. Puzzled..anyone have any idea as to why printer wont print job? Where is the printing queue anyways? Is it in software file or what? It may be that software will not print to HP printer through USB connection. Your thoughts please.....

1/ is your printer installed properly
2/ does your printer work with other documents
3/ if all is good above try the following
Start, System, Printers, Right click on your HP Icon, Properties, Details folder, Spool setting. Then try to experiment I use EMF and spool print jobs for faster printing.
Hope this helps http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

This Home Design Program... Is it somehow related to a program called Team Design? It is a cad program also for offices and large area furniture layouts... If so, I may have some ideas for ya as Team Design is a real pain in the **** for lots of people.

What operating system are you using?

Heres the details....
My operation system is Windows 98. Printer works in all other applications and the printer setup in CAD software program (Planix Home Design 3D) looks like its channeled correctly.
I'm thinking this software program does not like USB cable connection. I use to print with this software program through a parallel cable to a Canon printer and it worked fine. My HP printer has a USB and parallel printer connection on back. Would Win 98 address both connections, USB and LPT1 if I connected both or would they conflict? Anyone ever done that before? I like my USB connection. so I really dont want to disconnect USB if possible.
Hmmm...I see all kinds of printing issues at work.
I'll start with drivers.
A lot of p[rograms we use will not print certain objects embeded in anything if PCL drivers are used...so we default install PS ( post script ) drivers instead.
The most common indication of a driver issue is to look at the size of a file before printing...if it is like less than 10 meg's or so, and the print que ends up indicating a steadily increasing print job size ( like 100 Megs in print que )...then your using incompatible drivers.
It sounds like your using a home printer, not a laserjet...so that changes things in that drivers are not as easily changed...but look at HP's site for new drivers anyway.
