I have a gateway 450 - PII ...... I just ran into a problem. I added a CD-RW and Tape Back UP awhile back. I now need to add a second hd but both IDE cables are full. The are both dual connecters. Do they make triple connectors? Can an IDE handle more than 2 pieces of hardware? I can't go with a SCSI HD because the new HD is going to be used for linux. Any ideas?

Unfortunately an IDE channel only accepts 2 devices.....the next option is to add anoth IDE controller, if you can source one

OK, so I take it you've got
the original HD
the original CD drive
New cdrw
new tape drive (IDE tape drive?)

You can have only two devices per IDE port. There are ways to add a third IDE port, but you'll need a controller card at the least.
I run six, using tertiary (3rd) port on Soundblaster Awe 64 card, but there are other cards out there that'll work.
