Hi All
Can one of you good folk explain this and suggest a cure.
It started with using Qucktime Player.
When I "click" on the Close Button or File Close I get the following crash.
Fatal Exception OE has occured at 0187:BFF9DFFF. The current application will terminate.
Pressing "any key" gives a blank screen with a dialogue box in the centre saying
Kernel32 caused General Protection Fault in module KRNL386.exe at 0001:000075a2
There is a "Close" button that has no effect, a soft reset is required.
Just what are the cryptic messages trying to tell me?
This is a repeatable fault and occurs with QickTime v4.1.2 installed as part of the Premiere version 6.0 install.
Also happens in part of my modem management software!
Another odd error if I launch my CUTE FTP program and then close it there is a "residue" of part of the window that only disappears if I refresh the screen.
Things I have tried:
Changed to earlier version of the video card driver a Hercules Maxi Gamer TNT Vanta
Disabled the sound card (SB Live 1024) and reinstalled the drivers
Changing the screen colour depth
None of these worked!!!!
Everything else seems to be behaving itself OK
A possible clue if I boot in safe mode all is OK this as I understand it points to a driver problem not hardware. However, as I said above the problem started "suddenly" with no obvious cause. One moment I could open/close the Quicktime player the next time the crash happened.
I hope one of you can throw some light on this as though its seems OK in other ways I do not like this problem getting in the way?
