Peer to Peer via IR -> Possible?

Is it possible to set up a peer to peer network via Infrared? Like notebook to notebook sharing w/ infrared.

Yes it is, but you're not going to like the rest of the answer.......... I cant remember how i did it.
I have a win98 machine and a win95 laptop, no ideal.
The two os's handle things differently, on one machine the other would come up as an entry in explorer but on the other there was a window through which transfers were done.
I had trouble getting an IR header for the desktop, and then it only supported 115k2 (sir), whereas the laptop (dell) was capable of 4meg (fir), finally got an ethernet card for the pc, miles better !

It is supposed to work that you set up your IR device as a Dial-Up Adapter... but mine wont show in that dialogue box!
