Soundblaster 16 crackling noises under WinME

Calling all pro's!!!

Hey guys, I really need your help

Anyone know why the sound from my sound card has crackling noises when playing mp3's (wave files)?

This doesn't happen when I use my TVWonder with line-in

There's no conflicts within the system properties.

Could it be just that I have a dated soundcard or some other anomoly?

I checked this baby over & over... still can't figure this little "prick" out.

System:
OC'd pII-233@(115fsb)
PCI bus running at 38.3Mhz
WindowsME
Latest drivers from WinME

Try updating your DirectX to version 8.0a, if you still didn't, if it doesn't help, in case you're using WinAmp, try using WaveOut instead of DirectSound, or vise versa ...
