Go to Start\find and search for *.dbx and *.wab Make a note of the locations.
Open up Outlook Express and go to File\import
Select address book, and browse to the location of the .wab file on your old drive.
Same thing for importing your mail, browse torward the old location that has all the .dbx files and point it at the one called "folders.dbx"
Hope that helps.
Dave

Edit-
By the way, make sure your new installation has the same or newer version of OE installed.- edit

It wouldn't let me import the address book. It said it couldn't do it. I found the right directory, etc, but just wouldn't let me. Thanks.

There was an article on this in the March PCWorld, i believe. If I can remember I will look it up but you can check the site too. The writer of the story said you had to jump through hoops to do it and he ended up calling Microsoft and it took them forever to figure out how to do it.

Good Luck

This is the way I do it with outlook, the files are different but it should probably work. Also this only works if you want to replace your address book . After your outlook is set up with an address book close the program and copy over the *.wab file on your old HD to the new one overwriting the one you just created. Be warned I’ve not tried this in Outlook express only in Outlook with the .pst files and .pab files.

I did exactly as n0n4me said, with OE, and it worked just fine.

OE advice was great, I've replaced 3 Hard-drives in the past 1 and a half years and always loose OE addresses and Mail I want to keep!
Thanks

I have had problems with this in the past. Make sure that your operating systems are indenticle. Win98, IE 5.0X. This simplifies things a bit.

For your Outlook Express folders,
C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\{big long number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Make sure the files in here are not "Read Only" This is a major cause of not being able to paste from a CD Backup.
Copy the files that are in the new machine, in the pathway above, to a temporary folder on your hard drive, just in case. Now copy your old files in the pathway above.

For your addressbook, go to:

C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Addressbook

Paste your original addressbook in here. You will notice the file names are different. The ones that were in there in the first place, rename them by adding the #1 to both files.

Now rename the newly introduced files to the original name of the existing files. You should have what you want at this point.

Cheers!
