Jsut been reading about Win 98 SE not having tweakUI and how the writer could not find a download on the MS uk site, he did find UK user can get the upgrade which includes IE5 for free at
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/win98_2nd.htm
then goes on to add have your credit cards ready it may be free but they charge Pounds sterling 16.82 to cover postage/packing thats about $25 or $26 USD for a CD in the POST, Does that price include personal delivery by B.G.

I don't live in the UK either there the ones getting it stuck to, as for the States I believe US dept of immigration statement to me moving there would be "YOUR TO OLD AN OLD F*** WW to allow that." and if they did allow me to move there, I would have to find some where, where the mid winter temps don't drop below 60 F others wise it's just to cold, it's alright going up into the mountains for a bit of SMing but gotto get to some where warm after.

Snow, just dowm the road they have a place where the hot springs just bubble up, mind you the smell can put you off the place, and you have to be carefull which one you choose, I've been told the locals used some to cook in 180+ on some of them pure steam into water of pool.
It doesn't change the fact USA wouldn't want me at my age, I must admit 30 years ago when I was into Rails & Nitro I would have loved it, the years can't be turned back and its to late to cry over spilt milk now. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Should have added the one thing I do miss about the northern end of this world is a white Christmas, as a lad I still remember My ma going out on Christmas morning and putting an old SS cookpot into the snow so we could make ice cream to go with the plum pud. not quite the same going to the beach and having a Barbee becuase it to warm to eat Turkey and plum pud

I don't know about charges for mailing TweakUI but the UK site for Microsoft will send the IE5 CD totally free, with no postage fee at all.
I don't think TweakUI is a big file and I'm sure it can be downloaded for free (or taken off the old original Win98 CD-ROM?).
BTW, just how ancient are you?? You make it sound as if you're 102!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

As for the down loads I agree, there are ways of getting them, the whole point is, yes they are free, its what MS wants to post them to you, and tweak Ui is no longer available from the UK MS site, they are bundleing it with IE5 for the price of postage though, its the amount they want for postage thats the rip off.

I can put IE 5 and Tweak UI on a Zip disc if anybody wants it ( I think I can ) I have the Disc for Microsift nad the other on my drive.

Many of the "free" (phone calls only charged) ISPs here give away IE5 on CDs as part of their package. You can pick them up in supermarkets and electrical retailers for free, or on magazine coverdiscs.
TweakUI wasn't on my full retail Win98SE, I got it from somewhere like zdnet or download.com

WW, the site above is for the Second Edition Upgrade for the origional Windows 98.
MSFT UK used to offer free postage - I got it, delivered by DHL too next day here in Ireland.
But 2 weeks later they decided that they wanted to make more money and stuck the unfair delivery charge on to it. I could burn 10 copies of it, not the I'm suggesting anything like that. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Just saw your reply. Yep, I agree. I guess that software company should be called "Micro-ripoff-soft". It's amazing they have the gall to charge exorbitant postage for something they used to distribute free. It certainly doesn't help their already tarnished image!
