I was messing around In my bios today, and noticed something I am not sure of.
There is a field called "Cpu/pci slot (mhz)"
Then, you can change the nos anywhere from '66.8/33.4' to '150/37.5' or default. Sorry if that last no is incorrect on the 37.5, my writing sucks.

Does this mean I could pop in pc133, set this to 133/? and have 133 mhz bus speeds?

It sure sounds that way! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

What make and model of motherboard?

Yeap you can; some or most new motherboards are now jumperless. Just one problem you need to check if you can tweak the voltage from wittin the BIOS.

Check you motherboard and if you can, you can save the hassle of opening the case http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Apostle,

Your board was made by DFI. I'm tring to determine which is your board now.

how many isa pci slots do you have? how many ram slots? Socket370 or slot 1 motherboard?

hang tight...getting closer http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

under pci and agp buses on sysoft sandra, it says i have two buses, no spec of wut kinds. I assume one agp and one pci. Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks mntsnow

Apostle,

Unfortunatly DFI's website is currently unavaliable to me. (unable to connect to it) I would suggest that you pull your case cover off and take a look at your board. Right by the CPU socket it should have the model # listed on there close by. (at the same time physically count how many of each buss you have. ISA, PCI and of course you will only have 1 agp http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Good Luck

Thanks mntsnow, I'll do that. If I can upgrade to a 600mhz processor, I think I will in March. Then, my next system will be a K-8.
I know that's a while to wait, but what the heck, its money.

Hi Apostle 83,
I believe you have a "P2XBL Rev D+" Diamond Flower Motherboard there. It's got a 440BX AGPset Intel Chipset

Nice board, very overclockable

Here's the specs, compare it to what you have to be sure, but I think that's what it is.

There's a link to the DFI site below. There they have a picture of the board for comparison.

I know not the make of my mobo! I sent the maker info I got off of sisoft sandra, here she is in bmp format
http://www.northpo.net/~matt/sisoft.bmp

I sent this info to the makers, and they couldnt tell me what model off the serial number, that sounds pretty stupid to me. I thought serial numbers were for product id... oh well, you guys know more about this **** than the engineers who designed it.

Thanx chainsaw, I know that took a little work, but that is not it.

You guys will hafta forgive me, as I learn about comps from 'listening in' and I sometimes get confused (don't worry, I'll never try to help you if I'm confused about the subject in question).

Mntsnow, when you said PCI slots, thats what ram goes in right? If that is the case, I have four pci slots that will support 256 meg modules.
Chainsaw... it came with the manual on cd, and it was for five kinds of mobos:cb60-bx/zx; pb50bx-zx;cl60-lx;pb61-zx;p2xbl-rev.d.
I'm not taking the cover off till after xmas, so if you know, I'm happy!

Apostle,

The ram slots are different from the PCI and ISA slots.

This is what your motherboards slots would be lined up like along the back edge of the motherboard.
Top to bottom.

AGP (light brown in color)
PCI (white in color)
PCI
PCI
PCI (there could be 1 more PCI slot)
ISA (black in color)((there could be up to 2 more ISA slots)

The memory slots are about 4.5 inches in length and very narrow.

Well at this point there is not much more the rest of us can do for you with out having you open up the case and physically looking at the board. But also long as things are working for you and your happy thats really all that matters http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

One more thought on this . . . (without opening the case)

It normally gives the model number of your motherboard on the startup screen (the first DOS-looking screen [after the video details] you see when you first switch on your computer) - usually along the bottom. There should be a series of letters and numbers there.

Failing that, it may state the model number in the heading of the CMOS Setup. (Press F1 or Delete (or whatever it tells you on the startup screen) to enter Setup and see).

Hi Apostle 83,
I noticed that one of the models listed in the manual is a p2xbl-rev.d. are you sure that's not what you have? Not to worry, when you remove the cover, I'll bet the information you are looking for is printed right on the board.
Best of luck with all,

Apostle~
I'm just curious. Did you follow my suggestion for finding out what motherboard you have?
