Ill give a rundown of my setup:
AMD Duron 700 @ 900
Abit KT7a Raid mobo
15 gig HD
160 MB SDRAM pc-100
Geforce 2 MX w/32 MB mem

My prob is that when I play Halflife: Counterstrike in any res and w/ Vsync off or on my comp freezes in about 1 min to 2 mins. I end up having to restart. Ive tried the newest detenator drivers from nvidia and also the basic drivers that my card came with. I have the latest direct x 8 drivers installed. Please help me. Thanks.

Try setting your cpu back to its original speed or less than what its currently overclocked at.

You are not overclocking your video card too are you?

Could also be a heat problem...

I've had this problem myself, running on Athlon 600 (no OC) and my voodoo 5500,
I just use D3D instead.

It cant be my overclocked cpu. I had it run 3D Mark 2000 all night to make sure it was stable and it was just fine. Its core temp was only like 39-40 degrees C. I have major air flow in my comp too. I have a slot fan, a chip fan for my video card, a chip fan for my mobo, heatsink and fan for processor, front fan to draw air in and another to blow it out the back with the the slot fan.

Is the problem only happening when you play halflife counterstrike? all other games work fine?

If thats the case, you may want to reinstall counterstrike and/or update to lastest Halflife version.

Yeah it only happens with CS. It worked fine for awhile, but ill try doing that. It's so frustrating to see such a powerful vid card suffer under direct 3d. Roughly it pulls in 99 fps constant with opengl and 40 average with direct 3d (My voodoo 3 could beat that!!!!).
