After re-installing Windows 98 I'm not able to access my scanner. The message given when I click on the scanner icon is: The SHELL32.DLL file is linked to missing export SHLWAPI.DLL:SHRegGetUSValueA. ( C:\PAPERPORT\paprport.exe A device attached to the system is notfunctioning ) ... I've tried to uninstall scanner but it will not allow me to fully uninstall the program. I also tried to re-install scanner but it will only allow me to go to a certain point. The printer I have which plugs in through the scanner still works. I'm at wits end with this problem. The scanner worked fine before I re-installed Windows 98 and all the other programs I have work fine. I would appreciate any input to this problem. Thanks!
I researched the problem with tech-support and could not believe how simple this was to fix my scanner problem..I've asked so many people in the past month who had no idea what to do. It took 3 minutes to fix the error message and get my scanner working again. I owe this all to Dennis Ryan's tip of the day. He wrote about this wonderful site I had no idea existed. To think I wasted a whole month trying to fix this simple problem. I was at the point of reformatting the whole system. Maybe this will help someone else with a simular problem. Thanks !!
