Yeah, so everyone knows you are "into computers" in your family, right? What kind of gifts have you received in the past? Photo mousepads, Mac software? Furry mouse covers? A box of 720k diskettes,or worse,5 1/4 floppies? I saw this humorous article at Sharky's and it's worth reading:

"The Greedy Gearhead Gift Getters Guide" http://www.sharkyextreme.com

Oh yeah, I got Leisure Suit Larry 2 last year! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Haha good topic http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I just got my first present, from my managers at work. One of them knew I was heavily into PCs (I helped him build his own) so I got the X-Com pack that contains all the X-Com games! I have to admit this is one of the most excellent and thoughtful presents I have ever received from a colleague! I love those games http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

My brother was going to buy me a DVDROM, but I accidentally beat him to it... doh!

I tend to avoid duff presents because I insist that NO ONE buys computer stuff for me because I would hate to think they wasted their money on something lame... same rule applies for music - if someone gets me a Mariah Carey or Celine Dion CD, it's getting used as a dog frisbee...

I think the User to User board is going to be REAL busy in the days after Christmas!
I wonder how many will be wanting to swap Q3 for UT and vice versa http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I seem to get stuff like "flight simulator 2000"
Its somewhat funny, as I have to help my parents buy software, (cheaper, obviously, when you use a pricescanner..) and I'm thinking, golly, who could that be for... hmmm...

Well everyone in my family knows to just give CASH for x-mas so I can get what I "need" for the computers (they change in configuration almost weekly!)

So I think I'm going to build me a Dual celeron 366 @ 550 rig based on the BP6 motherboard I just bought from Bdog for me instead of building it and selling it!

If you have any pull with the jolly old man, I'm looking for a twenty inch LCD monitor. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Santa is bringing me an ORB, home DVD player (I've got one in the computer)and maybe a netcam*. If I, I mean he can afford it.

Regards to All,

Zotz Mein

Happy Holidays!

Well, odd as it may seem - I am about to get Corel's recent delux release of Linux. Although there are many things I could wish for, it is important to note that Santa usually makes monthly trips to my place just for me - that is if you ask my wife. This is really weird - I just discovered that the file manager window on my Caldera OpenLinux 2.3 system also works as a web browser. I am posting this reply with it, but it has a bug - it keeps putting all the text on a single line.

I am interest to see if this posts okay.

Shoot........I never get what I WANT for Christmas.....just what I need. You know, socks, shirts, underwear; that sort of thing...ughh! I just can't understand why nobody thinks I NEED a new 19" monitor, or another hard drive. Hmphhh...go figure!!

I get what my wallet is willing to spitout for me http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Since I get most of the common stuff as M1pilot gets... I mean come on! If you see a guy who is playing all the day in the computer, opening and closing the case every 2 seconds, studing a career related to it, why would he love more a pair of briefs every year rather than an Athlon CPU? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I never get what I want ESPECIALLY whey it comes to comps. They wouldn't know what to get and would pay too much anyway http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Right now I need some extra cash = another system. I compete for time, not enough comps. Waiting for daughter to move back home from Germany. Then I'll easliy justify building a new one, she get mine, son get hers...and on and on. This is great! Is it christmas yet?

Any thing as long as it's not for comps, I hate to think they paid retail for it. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
