Grateful to CCs and BIGO members for getting involved.

Yes, CCs member, I've run the system on bare essentials. There is only 1 ramstick - Hyundai PC133 128MB ram. Only one OS Windows 98SE. Yes, the system freezes in DOS as well.

I've changed AGP card to NVidia Tornado GeForce 2 MX 32MB. Ribbon cables have been changed, too.

BIGO member, the only reason I bought the case is because my computer school uses it in all its DIY computers. It's a popular item, quite a hotseller here in Singapore. Not much in the ventilation department. No vents, except the power supply area.

Have run the system without the covers. Still seizes. Originally, it seizes within 30 minutes. After that I feel the heatsink and the tip of the CPU. Both are always comfortably warm. No excessive heat. But I get your drift, BIGO. It may be over-sensitive to heat.

When it freezes, BIOS PC Health Status reports CPU Temp 42 degrees Celsius (107 degrees Fahrenheit). System Temp 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit).

Here's another thing I have begun to notice, CCs and BIGO. The system now freezes within 8 to 10 minutes. After that, it plays this seizure game within seconds, no more than 5 seconds. It doesn't take 30 minutes anymore. The troublemaker's condition has probably degraded.

Another thing. I haven't got any application software in the system. Only the OS and 2 Exam modules to help me with the A+ exams. Anyway, it hangs without any activity being carried out.

My system is still under guarantee. The computer shop I bought the components from says that it will take 2 months for its staff to solve my problem. I'm doing it myself because I didn't want to rob myself of the experience.

I'm down to the motherboard or CPU. It's getting exciting. I feel I am very close to a solution. Thanks CCs and BIGO members.

Its probably safe to say its a hardware related problem then.

Have you double checked any jumpers and settings on your motherboard are correct? tried setting the bios to default?

If you have a spare CPU then it would be a good test to rule out a bad CPU or not.

Otherwise you might just have to replace each hardware piece one at a time till the problem disspears.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input, CCs member. Wish I knew your name.

Yes, I've checked and doublechecked motherboard settings, including BIOs. Also cleared CMOS and reset BIOs values.

About to buy myself another CPU and motherboard.

Will post result of my adventure!
