Is there a reason I'm receiveing 46b/s constantly? I can't say this has always been happening...but it worries me! If reset my cable modem, it takes a few seconds, and then the stream continues. The receive data light on my motorola cyber wave blinks about once a second. It's not always like that. WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!

My Motorola Cybersurfer is finicky also. Don't know if your prob is off-site, but try unplugging the modem from the wall for a couple minutes then let it re-acquire the network.
Btw-,@home advises that the modem should always be on and not to route it to a power strip/surge protector, etc. If you call support, be sure to ask for a level 2 technician, otherwise you get the standard
two-week trouble ticket appointment. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Isn't unplugging the same as hitting the reset button? Cuz when you hit that it goes through the same set up routine...ha, or atleast the pretty green lights blink in the same manner. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
But, no harm in trying.
It's off the powerstrip strip as well.
It's sort of strange....receiveing 46b of data a second. What is this data, and where is it comeing from? Or is this just a normal part of the @home network? I just don't know if I should be worried or not. Once again, I had noticed this activity before last night....but I haven't spent a lot of time stareing at my modem.

your modem is off site. Try pinging to comcast, see how long it takes. And also, call comcast, they have excellent tech support
Off site??? Comcast??? huh??? I don't use comcast, so they might wonder why I was calling them. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I use @home... provided by Shaw cable.
But please explain what you mean by being off site.
lol, well, @home is also the name of comcast's cable modem -=]. The modem isn't connection to your ISP correctly, some of the settings were mangled. Its not unusual to get data, but not constantly, i probably get recieved data every 15 sec.
btw, check home.com, see comcast is called @home!

I have @home with a Cybersurfer Wave modem. The first 3 lights (power, cable, pc) are the only ones that should be on constantly. Well, the pc light will go off when you power down your computer.
If you got to www.analogx.com (http://www.analogx.com) and get NetStat Live, this program shows you upload and download info in realtime. Using this I too see a 46b/s "ping" every few seconds. But not constantly. It seems to happen every 3-5 seconds for maybe 15 second duration, then I get nothing for a few minutes (assuming I'm not doing anything online).

I bet you do, you just don't know it. Get that program I mentioned and you'll see it.
And it's not 46kb/s it's 46b/s.

Ha, yeah, I used netstat live to figure out it was 46b/s. That page has lots of cool prog's. I'm getting a constant stream. I did a clean install of windows, just cuz...and noticed that the receive data light continued to blink at a rate of about 1/s even with my system off. So that made me much less concered. I wish netstat told you where the data was comeing from.

Mine does the same thing with @home. The RD & TD lights light up about every six seconds or so. I have noticed this for some time now and I just figured it was checking the connection or somthing. Kind of like it is talking back and forth to verify the connection? Does anyone know what this is exactly? It does not bother me too much. But now that it has been brought up I am curious.

DHCP checking your IP. Most @home services use it.
