Hi,
If she has cataract (most common case with elderly) than she has big chances to recover sight Both my grandmothers had same problem and 5 (3) years after operation everything is fine. http://aao3.aao.org/public/faqs/
Hope it will help.
Good luck to your grandmother

cool thx a lot. yes I forgot to mention that she had cataracts. it's good to know everything worked out ok for your family. I just wanna get her some good info and reading material on this subject(she has a lot of free time http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) to ease her mind. plus she likes the reading and says it pasts the time faster. thx again

Both my parents have had cataract surgery in both eyes, and have found their sight improved a great deal. So that's four out of four.

My mother complained of gritty and dry eyes for a while, but I believe that the discomfort was no more than what people feel when they start wearing contacts.
