hi does anyone know how to fix a "twain not found" problem on a scanner. i'm using a canoscan 656u. i use to be able to scan pictures, but i diconnected it from the usb port, to use my cd writer. and now it won't let me scan pictures http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif please help me...

If you're still having problems with this make sure all cables are firmly connected and re-boot with the scanner plugged in. Be sure to plug in the scanner's external power first. In the meantime, get a hub to expand your available USB ports so you don't have to keep doing the swap thing.

You have to have your graphics program "select" the Twain again. Usually in the graphic program File menu will be a Scan menu where you will have a "Twain Select" option. Sometimes the twain driver file will be in the window that appears, or you may have to browse for it. Look in your Canon scanner folder or Twain folder for the drivers.

Every time you disconnect the scanner, you have to re-install it in this fashion, from my experience.
