Removing Names From Add/Remove Program Folder

If you've ever deleted a program and then tried to remove the name from the Control Panel Add/Remove programs tab, the name doesn't go away, because you have just erased the directory containing the program, instead of using the uninstall utility. Now you can't get rid of the names. Here is how to do it:
From the Start Menu hit Run
Type in REGEDIT.EXE, hit ENTER
Click the + on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click the + on Software
Click the + on Microsoft
Click the + on Windows
Click the + on Current Version
Click the + on Uninstall

You'll see a list of program names exactly like the one in your window of removable programs. Just highlight the ones you want to erase, then at the top of the box click on Edit, then Delete. Once again, please be careful anytime you are using REGEDIT, you can do some real damage.

This is from "Tips on the Registry in Windows 95/98" at the following site: WinPlanet.com (http://www.winplanet.com/winplanet/tutorials/798/1/)

This tip has been very useful to me.

Or if you don't want to get into the registry or want a straight forward method use TweakUI for Win95 or TweakUI for Win98 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

TweakUI - I second that! And thanks for the registry tip - if it works in reverse I can put some nasty messages in there when servicing my best friends computers.
