Does anyone know how I do this? I am feeling kind of lazy today and don't really want to spend an hour searching. I saved a 2min. file and it is like 600MBs! DO I need to download a program to do this? If so I would prefer freeware.I have a Hauppauge WIN TV pci card. Actually I would like to use Quicktime. I am copying video from a camcorder and vcr if that makes a difference.
I want to put some video for my family to see on my website.
Thanks!

well, the best thing you can do is reduce it's physical size - instead of full screen - make it 1/4 or 1/8th screen (320x240 or 160x120) then use a program like premiere or something and use a codec - it sounds like you wen uncompressed - if you can capture it with compression - do that, it's easiest. i recommend either cinepak or intel indeo 4.x or above. oin the advanced optoins, if it has "keyframe every x frames" turn that off it only makes the avi look like s**t and doesn't save you a lot of space. aslo the higher you set the quality slider, th bigger the file size. if you want to convert to quicktime, there are several freeware and shareware utilities. smartvid is fast and easy to use - i think it's by intel. it converts back and forth between avi and quicktime. (file size doesn't change when you convert) http://support.intel.com/support/technologies/multimedia/indeo/smartv.htm
hope this helps
