Monitor CRACKS AND POPS????

Can someone explain why after I turn my monitor and computer off that throughout the night I hear cracks and popping like noises...my tv does this too...Is it some type of static electricity???

could be. i have an old tube tv and had it dusted.it was full of dust.when it was on in the dark u could see little blue sparks.the capacitors still have a charge stored in them.and so does the flyback.i got zapped by one once.so for your safety i wouldnt remove the cover of monitor.electricity hurts!
