I finally got Win98SE installed and all devices and most software when a reboot brought the news that I had lost vnetsup.vxd and vredir.vxd and dfs.vxd and msnp32.dll

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HI crazyray

Check seti's post here

http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum2/HTML/004830.html

If this doesn't help, please post your system specs.

Thank you Socalgal!

I have the same card on the computer I am using. Is it possible to simply copy these files onto a floppy and drag them into C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM ?

I have successfully lifted vnetsup.vxd and vredir.vxd and dfs.vxd from my other computer and copied and pasted them into C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. I did the same with msnp32.dll but I am still getting the warning that it is missing on boot up. Did I put it in the wrong place?

Still lookin' for a saviour...Socalgal are you listening?

The box reads:

Windows Networking
Unable to load the dynamic link library

msnp32.dll

The System cannot find the file specified.

Some or all of the following feature is not available: Microsoft Network

I promise to wait at least 20 minutes before posting again... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I don't have any advice of my own, but typing "Unable to load the dynamic link library" into the search box at Google.com yielded this Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
Error Message: Unable to Load the Dynamic Link Library: Msnp32.dll (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q243/4/31.asp)

If that doesn't help, here are the other hits (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=Unable+to+load+the+dynamic+link+library) from Google.

socalgal, I don't see anything from seti in that link http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Did you register the file?

If you register the file from the c:windows\system location it should allow windows to find it there.

Many thanks to socalgal, fingers and others. I finally got this thing flying. I deeply appreciate the links and the willingness to help. It may say "member" by my handle, but I'm just a newbie. This is my second home-built, my first P-III, and apparently the mobo I've got is a bit "twitchy". I've learned so much that I'm beginning to realize how much I have to learn.

Thanks again and God bless! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif
