This is probably a simple fix, but I can't figure it out!! When exiting from Internet Explorer 5, there should be a box that pops up saying something like "Do you want to close your internet connection?". It does not come up anymore - how do I get it to come up again? I checked the Microsoft web site & they had info on ie4, but not for ie5, regarding this problem. For ie4, it said to go to REGEDIT and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersio n\InternetSettings - from here they say to change data value (for EnableAutoDisconnect)from "00 00 00 00" to "01 00 00 00", but data value in ie5 is "0x00000001 (1)" and will not let you change it to the other type value (which I believe is in BINARY). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Dan

I can't verify this, because I don't have dial-up. But I belive you would go to tools > Internet Options > Connections > then select your ISP and click > settings....and I imagen it would be in there.

I checked in the IE help file but couldn't find it.

Seti, it should be that simple, but of course it never is. I had checked that before, but I couldn't find any settings for the disconnect.

So it's supposed to auto disconnect when you close IE? Ya mean you don't do ANYTHING except surf the Web while on the internet??? Ok, ok, I'll try to refrain from personal judgement here. But can't you just do this: right-click on the connection icon in your tray and choose disconnect.

OK wise ***! Yeah, that's how I usually disconnect (right-click on tray icon). But, sometimes I'm just a moron and I forget to disconnect & the thing is still connected until I notice it. So, if I can get it to remind me, that would be easier. Now, you can either try to help with this or you can be a dumb-*** and keep leaving stupid comments.

Hey, don't take it personally dude. I just hate to see anyone missing out on so much the Internet has to offer. The World Wide Web is but a small portion of the Internet. But "to each his own".

Sorry I don't have an answer for ya, I use Netscape. Good luck.

Open up IE5, click Tools, Internet Options, then choose Connections. Select the ISP you wish to configure, then click Settings, then click Advanced. You should then see a little checkbox at the bottom without a check in it, it will say something along the lines of "disconnect when the internet is no longer needed", if you check that box, it should start disconnecting you again.....

THANK YOU richamies!! I'm blind - I didn't see that setting, but that did the trick!!
seti - don't even start to lecture me about putting people down. You are right about this site being a vast resource of knowledge and being light-hearted - and I would be one of the first to comment in a joking manner. But, OuTpaTienT's comments seemed cocky & with an attitude of him being better than everyone else - not to mention, he had no recommendation for a solution. If I read him wrong, I appologize, but an email message can be taken different ways. So don't try to tell me I was wrong!!
OuTpaTienT - I was just looking for info, not irrelevant comments with no solution. If I took you the wrong way, I'm sorry. I was just responding to comments I viewed as "cocky-ness". ANYWAY - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
