Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : NT Service Paks
You only need the latest service pack - they do not need to be stacked.
BTW - service pack 6a is out there on the MS site for free - that's for NT server.
In case you are running a CITRIX server, they have SP5 out there for NT Terminal Server ( slightly different animal than server ) - Then there's Enterprise server, but I haven't played with that just yet.
So - don't waste your time with 3 or 4 - definitely go to 6a if you have time to download and burn a copy.
So you're saying - why burn a copy to CD - ANY time you load a new device or update a driver off the net and, sometimes, if you do a registry hack, you have to re-run the service pack load. It is not dynamic and doesn't alter for changes.
Have fun.
Yes, Axell is right, but only problem is that with SP 5 you will have to install all patches (specialy dialin) and from SP3 PNP (ISA problem) because it only work properly from SP3.
Good luck

I am sorry WW, but SP6 have password/login bug and if you want latest than 6a it corrected that problem.
I heard what the major SP6 bug was - it seems that it altered/killed certain winsocks - most notable of which was that it disables LotusNotes.
Corporate America wasn't happy - Guess I'm glad we don't use it here.
A side note - the reason IBM bought Lotus was that it would have cost more over the next few years to simply renew their Lotus Notes I.D.'s than it would have just to buy the company - so they did.
So - that's why NT 4.0 Server SP6.a came out so fast. (2 weeks +/-) after SP6.

Just been reading A mag in from the UK, in it MS has supposedly informed them that from SP6 on SP's will come more frequently, however they will address bugs in previous versions,!!!!!!!!!!!.
the mag goes on to say DON'T automatically deploy but find out any furure SP'S are worth bothering with, as Windows 2000 is due for release.
makes you wonder what they intend for Win 2000

I just installed NT too, and I can't even load my video driver with service pack 1! Anyone know how to set up the soundcard in NT?
Hi,
Do not know type of your sound card. With SB I had to have latest NT drivers, NT SP 3 or above + pnp from SP3
Good luck
