How much of an increase in performace would i see if i bumped my p166mmx to 187mhz. I'm running a v3 2000 pci.

That would be a more noticable increase and it would justify having to wipe you HDD.(The distances for write patterns are smaller. They can cause bad sector errors especially with Seagate and Maxtor HDD's.) If you are going that route. If you don't own one of these two I would probably still try it the increased FSB speed does offer a noticeable although small performance increase.
