Another free job http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif customer may have deleted a necessary file.

Win98se, user added a ethernet card a ezcard from SMC Networks.

Upon boot, the message "a needed file windows needs to run is missing, MSNP32.DLL"
or something to that tune..

I went to MacroSwamp, u know the evil place with the dimly lit damp and smoky hallways lined with the bodies of those who failed in thier attempt to escape the evil place.

anyway, they say the file is listed in a cab file
"Net 7 cab file"
but there are 2 versions

Msnp32 dll 81,920 4-23-1999 10:22:00p
Mspp32 dll 36,864 4-23-1999 10:22:00p

I had her to run system file checker and a very similar file was missing or corrupted, but being a very new user she couldn't figure out how to restore it, browse and things like that freaked her out..

Hey , RobRich,, she's in your area near C'Nooga , so old buddy old pal, say why...

oh,,OK,, any ideas of what's happening ?

Did I lose everyone ? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I have extracted the fie to a floppy.

Any ideas on where it goes and how to reinstall it..

System file checker does not show this exact file as corrupted/missing.

On my WIN98 machine that file is located in the C:\windows\system directory, along with all the other .dll files. You should be able to just copy it there from another machine.
