I got myself the Creative WebCamII to view my parents over the phone when talking to them.
How exactly do I do that? Do I have to pay a fee for that service?
Has anyone don ethis yet?
Thank you

I've never actually done it before, but you use Microsoft NetMeeting (or a similar program). (Note: your parents have todo the following steps as well) First you hook a microphone, speakers, and the Webcam up to your computer, make an account on NetMeeting, sign on, find your parents account, connect to it. Sorry I can't be very specific.

If you want to view your parents, they'll need a webcam as well! Netmeeting works great....the first time you run it, a setup wizard helps you along setting up your account, audio settings, etc. It does'nt cost you anymore than what you are already paying for your ISP. I believe Netmeeting and
IE 5.0 is bundled with your camera. You'll(your parents too) also need a mike and speakers or a headset for audio communications.

You can download "Net Meeting 3" from the Microsoft updates web site. Click your icon
on the desktop toolbar click on place a call
type in their email address and if there on line you can call them. They have to have a webcam for visual communications. First time
I tried the program, I linked up with some folks in Paris, France. They didn't have a camera but we chatted for a good while. I was
was totally amazed!! Good luck.

I would highly suggest that you use a headset microphone as it comes across much clearer than when using a omnidirectional mic.

For some reason, net meeting always gives me a hard time. It is so frustrating that I don't even use it any more. It takes me serveral trys to log on to one of their servers, and the people who I like to talk to on it, have the same problem as well. I doubt it is my isp, as I have a cable modem. Am I doing something wrong, or does it just suck?
