I have heard that Syquest went out of business? Can anyone contribute any info to this, and if not what do you think of their syjet drives? I'm in the market for a couple high cap. removable drives

I think they are still around. (Reorganized, smaller operation). Go to [www.syquest.com} their web page is up with some info. I checked it out because I bought an EZ 135 from an auction, and now I need to know what I need to do, and how to install it.
I guess I need a SCSI card, but which one?

Well, I like their drives. I've got the EZ Flyer 230MB portable drive and it kicks *ss over any other parallel port drive. Hopefully they'll get their act together and continue to give Iomega a little competition.

Just my 2 cents http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.

Iomega has taken over Syquest's assets, so there goes another competitor.

The Syquest devices are much better than the Iomega devices. I believe the Syquest problem came from weak management or something similar (like Commodore). I have an EZ135 SCSI (auction bought) as well as an EX135 IDE (auction bought) and a SparQ. I'm running the SCSI drive off of an Adaptec 2940UW controller. The drive is pretty speedy. The Sparq is actually fast enough to run applications from (parallel port). I only played with the IDE135 for a few minutes, seemed to like to have a cartridge in it at boot up before the system would see it. I have not tried it on a modern system yet, just my tried and true beast at work.

I found media for the ex135 in the clearance bin at my local Comp-Screw-USA. $4 a pop. Not bad...
