Well here we have a similar problem... they are now selling you laptops so you can enter what they call "Redisigned Courses" using Learning Space and accesing it through IBM's Lotus Notes.
It was supposed to an "aid", but they have made it almost obligatory and once you enter college you need to spend any where from 1600 dlls to 2500 dlls depending on the model, features, etc. you want.
And to make it worst Microsoft gets a share, since it charges all students for the Win9x license!! Hey! Isn't supposed to be already included in the price tag?!?!

Now if that isn't a reason to help out with old computers for schools what is, just another case of if the parents are rich enough the kids will be taught, and the poor ones can go and learn to mug in Solihul.
