Noisy computer

3 year old computer. 128K RAM, 13 gig C HD, 11 Gig D hard drive. Computer makes funny noises. Sometimes it gets "stuck" and a high ringing sound comes through the speakers! Is it dying? Is it time for a new computer? Appreciate any input.

Well in the world of PCs, three years is ancient, so yes may be time for new PC.

Define "stuck". If it occurs in the middle of a game, your soundcard and speakers could be looping through the same note, thus making a high ringing sound. What sound did speakers make before when it got "stuck"? (a low ringing noise).

Anyway iffin hardware failing it can be determined and replaced. Need to determine "stuck" and why getting. That may lead to why the sound coming from speakers.

winston, double posting makes it harder for people to help you, your post in the general forum already has a few responses, also you might wanna describe the noise in the general forum, since everyone there is already saying fans or drives (which is what i thought). I think the thread suits the general forum better than tech support forum. Go have a look at it as i am about to post there.
