My system works flawessly at the moment. Just reinstalled win2k and all the drivers. When I plug in my TDK burner, during boot up when it's detecting the IDE devices, all the ones on ATA66, to which I connect the TDK fail. I have my HD on ATA100. I tried all kinds of combinations. Just TDK on primary master, TDK on primary master and Pioneer secondary slave, TDK on primary master and Pioneer on seconday master. If I let it boot up, it burns CDs just fine. No problems at all. But the system locks up and I get those nice blue screens. Also I can't get into my bios boot option without the system rebooting itself that instant. Need some help guys.

Are you using ATA 100 controller (I got confused on that in your post) or is it just ATA 66 ?
I have heard of many people having hell of a time trying to get their Win2K to run properly with ATA 100 without some special tweaking.

I have an Asus A7V. It comes with the promise ATA100. All works fine untill I plug in the drive. HD is the only thing on ATA100.
