4 second pause 5 minutes after boot up

This is an annoying problem with my computer. It comes from my Acer CDRW 4x4x32 Drive. The Drive sounds like it powers down 5 minutes after I boot up my computer. However the problem is that I experience a 4 second pause when the Drive spins down. It's annoying when I have a 4 second pause happens while playing NFS 4. It only happens when my CD is in the CDRW Drive. I'm running Direct CD in the background which is necessary so I can back up files easily. Anyone else have this problem with their CDRW Drive.

Not with a CDRW, but with my DVD drive. This thing came with an app named Disc Detector and after 8 min (max setting) it will spind down and it becomes really annoying when playing games like FF7 and such where the movies play and this delay happends.

Anyone has a hack for it to increase the spin down time?
