problem with cdrw also

It used to work, from time to time, for some reason nero or my acer writer wouldn't burn or quit burning in the middle of a file, but i saw through that cause i could still burn music and games (ps games, i tried pc but it is trickier and most of the time it wouldn't work. but now i have a dvd installed instead of a normal cdrom and nero doesn't work with my creative encore dvd, when i install the drivers it doesn't recognize it or says it's not compatible (i forgot which one.) Does anyone know free d/l able burning software? What is the best burning software? Any suggestions on how to fix my burning problems? Thanks

Not to make fun of you Jtax, but from your first post, it was a little hard to understand what problem it was you were asking about.

If your CD Burner is still failing in the middle of a file, we can discuss the possible causes.

If your burner fails to copy computer or playstation games, thats another issue, probably related to copy protection on the source CD.

If Nero won't work with your Creative DVD, you may need to get an update to Nero, or look to the specs of your DVD ROM drive to see if it can support what you are tyring to do.

As for free D/L software you can use for burning, most of the good ones are shareware with time-outs. Nero is good, CDRWIN is supposed to be good but I have not tried. I'm sure that others will have suggestions for you as well.

As for your second item, not being able to burn files from your hard drive, what was the error you encountered?

just my two cents worth... if you have two type of CD burning software on your system, get rid of one. I had a problems where I couldn't burn at all,I got rid of one and started over and it worked perfectly.

thanks for the replies, jap03, i have installed from the nero cd but there was something else called ahead something, which i believe is a driver for nero.
Target, upon burning, it starts the burning process then quits. I forgot what it says, i'll try again when i get home and post another reply about it. Is it because my burner is on slave mode? I tried to d/l the new nero drivers but the server SUCKS!
Basically, my burner doesn't work. It can't burn cds b/c the program doesn't recognize the dvd player as a compatible cd drive.
And it can't burn from harddrive for some other reasons.

Try setting the burner as Master, and the DVD as slave.
