Have you tried resetting the BIOS to factory defaults?

Press and hold the Insert key while turning on the computer.

I think Foggy is recommendig to snatch the battery out for a while and check it while it's out. Put it back in (replace it if it shows no good) and boot.

Hows it going ftpete,

Do any lights etc. light on the front of the system, do the fans spin up? is there power getting to the motherboard?

First of, minimise your system. i.e. disconnect everything that is not essential.
Bare basics are motherboard, cpu ( with cooling ), memory. Try this. Then replace out the parts one by one, and see if you can get life. Or error codes/beeps.

Post back and tell, how you get on.

All the best, Justy.

No beeps from the system speaker? Do you have a CPU you can use to test with? May as well exhaust all possibilities.

Check and re-seat your CPU...make sure it seats all the WAY down... Had the same problem when I moved all my motherboard and other hardware to a new case...I guess one side of the CPU flex out of place...

Have you removed the CPU for any reason lately? I had taken out my CPU a while back and had the same problem. I had laped it and put it back in and had the same problem as you have described. The problem was a minor one, there was a small fine piece of cat hair, that was barely visable curling around various pins on the CPU. I cleaned the one little piece of hair off put it back in the board--Problem solved. You might want to take out your CPU and take a close look at the pin side to see if it is truly clean, one little piece of lint, hair or oil and it will short out the CPU. You might clean it with alcohol will you have it out. good luck
