"In addition, the bill limits the power to alter data on a computer to concealing surveillance, she said."
Does that mean that you couldn't run a firewall like BlackIce or am I reading this wrong.

That is wrong. Simple. The only thing anyone has to or should need to say. Wrong.

Early in the mornings lately, while getting ready for work and listening to the local news, good old David Horowitz has been sending all of Californians (or at least Southern Californians) a message loud and clear. Not to get on a soapbox, but I think many of you know how I feel about privacy and security on the Internet.

Anyone and everyone who feels these types of government tactics are wrong should seek out their elected officials and tell them how you feel. Can one person make a difference? Probably not. But one + one + one + .. = numbers that can make a difference.

I have had this link in my pocket for awhile now. If you are located in Southern California, go here and "Tell the Government to keep its hands off the net!"

Hands Off The Internet! (http://www.socal.handsoff.org/regional/socal/)

Thanks to Roy for this link some months ago.

Welsh.. you can't do a geographic.. it will follow you. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I guess the Aussie government doesn't want to hear what the rest of the world thinks.....
There server's down. Was gonna let them know what I thought of their new ripoff law. I'll never buy anything from place again. There's gonna be alot of heat because of this. Aren't these the decendants of famous "Debtor's
Prisons" of the old British Empire. Capt. Bly
is alive and well. Will there be a Mr. Christian?????? If we ever needed "Quigley", we need him now!!!! I don'tfeel that these people know the possilbe ramifications that
are going to effect them. My protest may be small and limited, but in numbers we can show them that were committed to a free internet.
May Alla deplete the Ozone layer on all involved.

Well it's is bad stuff, but also gotta understand that it is also many people's fault. So we all most suffer due to it... the only thing left to do is not letting them do it or at least put some resistance.

Of course not going to extreme measures, but yeah some resistance and complains.

Maybe it will follow me Socalgal, but I don't have to worry about it following me as long as most of you, sometimes age does have its advantages. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
As for this fool law its censorship once again, and quite frankly if they want to control what people see your going to have a black market in easily portable sys that can be used to log in get into the warez side of the web download porn and disconnect these people will then use snail mail to distrib the trash, so the crim elament will still be there, only the honest, law abideing joe will be the one who will end up persecuted,
as this matter is far bigger than Oz government, we should all e-mail our protest about this law, tough if their e-mail server can't handle it.
