After removing my Philips CDRW and removing software and hardware from my computer, I tried to install my new drive and it gets recognized on start up but not in "My Computer" Neither is the original CD Rom. Plextor set as "Master", original CD Rom as slave. Tried three different cables. Get yellow "!" in device mgr for secondary IDE.Try to reistall drivers but says they are already there. Removed CDRW( unplugged) set Cdrom to master and all is fine. Should I try to install the Plextor on the primary chanel as slave or do you reckon there's a problem with it?? Had no problem with the Philips.
Any ideas????? Thanks

That doesn't seem right. Try doing what Dave said. Also, think you could post what Windows says is wrong with it (in device manager, double click on the icon of the CDRW. Also, check your SECONDARY IDE CONTROLLER in the device manager as well. Try connecting the drive as a slave on IDE channel 1 (if you can) to see if the drive works or not (the one causing trouble that is).

Just sent you and e-mail, but thought you might be interested in some suggestions I've rec'd for my own Plextor problem. Seems like there may be some similarity.

See 1/25/01 posting under"Plextor 12/10/32A" for SnapperOne and 1/24/01 "Proper CD-RW setup" also under SnapperOne.

Good luck
