Are you an Admin. for site on server?

I would lose the bar splitting the frames, it would look better without.

Thanks for the two replies, although I was kinda hoping for more input.

Anyway, how do I remove the bars as suggested above.

And, the main question was how do I password protect a section of the web site. The pages are held on a Unix server if that makes any difference.

Lee.

If your using FrontPage 2000 on a UNIX server, remember you won't have the FP 2000 extensions installed.

Since you are on a UNIX server, check with the admin to see if you have access to a cgi-bin directory and can use scripts. If so, simply download one of dozens of scripts freely available on the net.

PS. To create pass worded directories within FrontPage 2000 being hosted on NT server with extension installed, you create an entirely new web that you set the entire thing to be pass worded. Then you make the new web a child to your primary web.

In essence FrontPage treats the pass worded portion of your site as a web inside of a web.

You should jump on Microsoft’s news server and join the FP 2000 users group. They’re people there who know this stuff like they wrote the program, in some instances they did.

This represents my one hundredth post on SysOpt.com! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

To make it REAL easy:

If you have sub folders (directories) embedded throughout the site (or pages) and there's absolutely no reference to them at all, then nobody's going to see them. (Assuming directory browsing is not enabled)

Or, leave them out until they're ready.

To remove the bar, go to where it says

width="1" and change it to width="0"
bordet="whatever" to border="no"

hope this helps

Removing borders with FrontPage 2000

---------------------------------------------
Single click on Frames (hint located about the middle of the page toward very top.)

A drop down menu will appear, scroll down and click on Frame Properties.

A popup window will appear titled Frames Properties. On the right hand side of this window toward the bottom you will see a button labeled Frames Page, click here.

A new popup window will appear titled Page Properties. Below this title, running from left to right, you will find four tabs labeled, General, Custom, Language and Frames. Click on the Frames tab.

You will now see a checked box that reads Show Borders. Uncheck this box and then click OK.

---------------------------------------------

Congratulations you’ve just learned how to remove borders using FrontPage!

This also works for FP 98 but I don’t think it works for FP 97 or version 1.1. It’s been along time since I’ve worked with those older versions.
