Rite now i am using an adverisment paid for dial up isp. (i hate it I use it because I have to dont have verry mutch $$$ rite now) I cant get cable where I live. I cant get dsl. I live on the edge of a big city. My phone line tends to be a bit staticy. So, what outher options are there? (prabably not mutch) Then how do I find better a provider?

Thanks!!

side question: Whats the absolute highest resolution you can get and how?

As for an ISP try Bell South (or whatever your affiliate of Bell is). They often have much lower rates. NetZero, iNet, and Freewwweb are all free and tend to use other ISPs servers for their connections (NetZero is the only exception.) The are slower. The best way to find out is to ask around in your area. Find the ones that are the least clogged. Don't go w/ any of the ones that are giving the $400 rebates b/c their servers get jammed because of the new overcrowdedness. I would tell you my feelings about ISPs here but I doubt you live in Charleston so I will refrain. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Good luck.

Oh-I don't know right off hand witht he resolution. I think the highest is 2400x2400 (true photo) but I could be wrong.

Dave is right... I have bellsouth and get connected @ 50,000 bps on a regular basis. There tech support is good and always there when and if you need them . Software easy to install.. got alot going for them. And if you have a businees phone it's $99.00 unlimited access for the whole year. How can you beat that!! Best of Luck

P.S.: I installed Net Zero on my daughter's computer and it seemed to do pretty well, but you have the advertizement banner http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I've been using Mindspring for over three years, they have always been reliable and have a selection of over 6 different access numbers for me to dial in to in case of connection problems, but I rarely have any. I am in NY.

They have different plans from $7-20/ month.

Try @home! They give away your account e-mail address to others whenever they upgrade! A real bonus! (Sorry, couldnt pass this up)

I can recommend Earthlink(ELN)/Mindspring (now merged). Top notch tech support 24/7 and usually no problems with connections. Since using ELN's DSL package w/PacBell, the only one problem recently, with PacBell. But I was able to use my ELN dialup just fine. (Also a good reason to keep your modem in place - just in case. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif )

J: How did you install Net Zero. I had trouble downloading the fifth disc, had to wait till next day. I'd try downloading again and reinstalling. The program works flawlessly on my daughters computer. Good luck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I installed it off floppys. first it put all in install files in a dir then ran intall it installed then deleated the intall dir. I contacted net Zero about it and they said tuen off auto hide and/or active desk top. I never have auto hide on and i got windows 95 and Iexplorer 4.

Thank you everyone for all your replies

You might look into a company called Big Planet (http://www.bigplanet.com) They have been rated in the top 3 of national ISP's and still are not that widely known http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
