Along the lines of the whole collage idea, I'm wondering what people would think if we allowed photos of Senior Members (>500 posts) to appear beneath their title/username. Since it would require manual implementation, I can't do it for everyone, but I should be able to for the oldtimers http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif. Any thoughts?

I prefer to remain anonymous & faceless.
That way I am judged not by my appearance, but by the content of my mind & the quality of my character.

That would JUST ROCK!
You were right Scott. I was shocked at the member status when I passed 1000 posts.

Sysopt.... I think that for those who are still bandwidth challenged, the extra time loading wouldn't be appreciated. I have visions of some posts with lots of replys from senior members, taking forver to load. Ok, not all post are quite as long as the hampster OC thread, but I think you understand where I am coming from http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I do think that for those who wish to share their physical identities, a great place to put a pic would be on their profile page.

You know Scott Target has brought up a excellent point! Sometimes us "speed" freaks forget about stuff like that http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I agree with Target. For those who answer a lot of questions here, it would take longer to load each page.

a couple little 40k pics couldn't hurt anyone, i for one don't care

Target's right about speed, I think I got the slowest connect on this BBS, so if you do put it on answer page is there any way you could give option to switch pic's off.

I'll give some thought to the technology issues and see what I can come up with. The pics would be very small and shouldn't affect load times TOO much, plus, once you've viewed a page with the pic, it would cache and all future visits would be normal speed.
Or, we maybe just a member ID page would be better - sort of like the collage idea.

Hi Scott
I must admit I would rather go for collage page style, after all how much extra on program to put into every post, when one or two pages would do the trick.

I agree that the collage idea is better.
When one wants to see the face of another member they can do so of their own accord. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I'm not a speed freak either.

I would go for the personal ID page but I think that as time progresses more and more people will have pics and that will hurt download times.

I'm fastly approaching you "old timers", and I'm with the collage idea. I'm still stuck with v.90 at home. Even if the pics are 40k a piece, if several different people respond to a post, a page can quickly flood us bandwidth challenged members.

They woudln't be anywhere near 40k, more like 3k (very small images that would fit in the space to the left beneath the user names), but I agree that a member page is problaby a better idea than integrating them into every post.

I figured you would use true color images, but still, I prefer the collage page.
I think http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif it will be better if you add picture in their profile so if I want I can look there and it wan't take much space.

My vote goes for the collage page or either on the profile page. I too, am one of those persons with limited bandwidth.
I vote for the collage page...

SoCalGal already has my pic.Don't show it to my wife, though.I was... ahhh...supposed to be at a meeting when it was taken!
Collage page here too. I have old lines, 28K is the best I get, even with V90.

Go for the collage page!
Just imagine when a post has many replies from the same guys? Why should anybody want to see his/her picture 10 times http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thumbs UP for collage (have to get my new scanner first cuz my old one crapped out on me..Should be shipping any day now)
Thumbs DOWN for the Pic's under people, because I have just a 56k, i believe it would hamper my experience here.
A collage is very welcome tho.
BTW
I like the little thumbs up n downs..much easier to take a vote or census http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I wonder how many folks would actually send in their pics? I've seen this tried on other boards and compliance/cooperation is ususlly very low.
At least the collage would give you an easy out if the project doesn't work out.

Well, it just dawned on me. I'm a senior member already. And over 500 too. Hmmmm... I wonder how many of the replies I gave were right? hehe

I would vote that a specific page be designated as the “Member’s Gallery” or some other such similar title.
I live in a rural part of America where the phone lines are only capable of handling 28.8-kilobyte per second speeds and there are no plans to upgrade the existing infrastructure or route “fat pipe” to my area anytime soon.
I love graphics and photos as much as the next netzine, however I would prefer if the forums pages within SysOpt.com were not heavily laden with them.
Just my humble opinion.
Regards to All,
Zotz Mein

I'm all for the separate page. It's nice to put a face with a name, but I would also respect anyone's wish to remain anonymous. I suggest having the collage type page with a space for photo, artwork, and/or note, at the members discretion. Recognition for devoting a great deal of time and effort helping others is truely earned. Good Idea!

I didn't take the time to read through this WHOLE page, so if I suggest something someone else did, sorry.
Scott, how 'bout adding the pic to the member's "info" page. Then if someone wants to see who just replyed to thier message, they just click on the info button, and there's the pic too.

Having read the entire thread down to here, I'm with Target that a pic with the person's profile would be best.
Also, you could post almost anything for your pic. - Doesn't actually have to be a photo, but an icon or logo would be fun. Sometimes they say more about someone than a photo does.
As for me - my shot is already buried on my home page listed in my profile - you can pull it from there any time you like.
Of course, those of us in the witness protection program might post someone else's picture http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
But Sysopt - be reasonable - 3K??? - I wouldn't quite fit in a 3 K image http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif At least not with all my grace and charming personality - HA!

Why not just have a page with member photos,
and If someone has the the need to see one of these poeple they can go and look at them.
