just want to get everybody's opinion. let's say you take 2 sytems:

system 1-> PIIIcoppermine 700mhz w/100mhz fsb
128MB PC100

system 2-> PIIIcoppermine 733mhz w/133mhz fsb
128MB PC800 @ 400mhz

neglecting all other hardware (and I know how hard that is for most of us to do http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif)
do you really think that the extra performance is really worth all the loot you would have to shell out? do you even think the jump in performance would be noticeble?

For those you have 440BX motherboards that accept PIII 700s then I don't think that it is worth the money to get a PIII 733, new motherboard, and new memory. You don't have to buy RDRAM but if you don't then the PIII 733 on the Intel 820 motherboard will be slower than a PIII 700 on a 440BX motherboard. Check the benchmarks.

I think that Rambus is one of the biggest wastes of money right now.
It just costs ASTRONOMICALLY more than SDRAM.
For that much, id expect alot more profomance (I mean a whole lot...)
I think a reasonable price for RAMBUS is about $2.5-3.5 per MB, maybe even less, but that wont happen anytime soom.

I agree with AuraEdge.There's a term called "Diminishing Returns".Basicly it's when you spend a mountain of money for a mole hill of gain!....DawgTuff.
