actually spent 5 yrs at Fort Drum NY and let me tell you, the snow was unbelievable. You could walk out of a 2 story building and just walk to the sidewalk. (all that lake snow) So I welcome the 3 feet of snow you talk of. Hopefully in time for xmas.

I'm 21 and go to the University of California Irvine. major is economics but this message board got me hooked (I mean I'm a bonified pc addict now) on computers. The dilemma now is that I'm a couple of classes away from getting my degree. I've got a job basically lined up at a mortgage comp when I graduate but since you ladies and gents have me hooked I think I'd like to get a Computer science degree. two problems arise though. One is that I've got a decent job waiting for me after I finish a few classes and the job market is currently good in California at the moment. If I don't take this job now I don't know how the job market is going to look next year or the year after(and I owe some school loans). I was thinking about getting a Comp Sci minor but so far it's basically been C++ programing and not CS. So I'm kind of at a crossroads. Thing is that the CS program here is one of the best around the country. When I graduate I don't know if they'd take me back or have room, when/if I decide I'd like to go for a CS degree(the CS program is packed now). And I'm not sure about getting the certifications yet.

bigslammer: you don't necessarily need a CompSci degree to get a CompSci job. Look at most companies these days, and you'll see execs with music composition degrees, art history, etc. You need the skills though, for sure, and having something to show for it (a portfolio of your work or a successful web site) is a must.

Interesdting to see how many of you all do not work with computers for a living. But we might as well considering all the time put into our personal computer.

I dunno, would it be too much to ask of all the digital camera people for pics of your computer setup? That would be cool, I think.

And one more thing, I guess there are a lot of you guys and gals who have been 21 years old for 10 years. Thats very cool!
