Hey there everybody ! Does anybody out there have this model of HP? Ive got a friend that wants to increase her RAM significantly. Unfortunately, she doesnt have any documentation and her system is out of warranty. I couldnt find any info on the HP site, and she refuses to pay $25 to ask HP. Any help would be appreciated on type and quantity that this system will hold. Thanks ...steve

I've been a member of the HP forum for almost 3 years.

The rumor there is that HP machines take HP specific memory..

Not in my limited experience do they..

I bought some generic memory in 99 and put it into my Pavillion.

It took lots of force to get it into the slots, but it works fine..

Much the same story on my Dell 800 PIII, it took regular ole Kingston memory and runs fine.

But,, on one old dell, a "95 model or so, the memory was specific to the machine and generic would not work.

I suggest trying some out of another machine and see if it will pass "POST"

That's the power on self test, black and white screen where the memory and drives are read..

Muchos gracias !!! I think Im gonna throw some Crucial PC-133 in there. I know its way over the system PC-66 but who knows, they might want to switch it over to a new machine later http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif ...steve
