A friend just bought a Gigabyte 71x with an Athlon 750, 192MB RAM, Maxtor 15Gb/7200, SiS 16mb AGP, some kind of cdrw(LG?)and a Delta 44x cdrom....both audio cables plugged onto the card.
I set up Win98 for her and everything went smoothly. The problem is a few lockups, one is guaranteed when you put in an audio cd...instant lockup, cant even ctl-alt-del, you have to cold boot.
We did try another sound card and get the same thing. 1st card was a crystal ISA **** thing and now there's an Aopen AW200 PCI in it...still not the best but she's not a big audio freak.

Another thing, not related...on post it says no 80 conductor cable installed...and there is one installed on the HDD...yes, it is 80 conductor.
Any ideas on either problem?

1. HD cable should be plugged with it's blue end into the mobo to have UDMA/66 support.
2. Check this SiS Video, it may conflict with Sound card for some problem, especially if it's ISA ...
