hello all,
I had just formatted my hd to install NT 4.0, I am going from 95 osr2 to 4.0 and after a successful install I cant install my modem. I use a SupraExpress 336i pnp. The modem has always been installed on com 3 because com 1 will not work even in 95. well I went into "ports" in CP and tried to add com 3 using 3e8 and irq 4. After reboot when I go to add the modem it only shows Com 1+2 but in the "ports" in CP it shows COM 1,2,3. I really need some help on how to install this and also a SB16pnp sound card. Thanks in advance for all your help

I'm afraid i know nothing abou the modem problem but i can sympathise with you on the sound card problem. I took me about 10 installs of the drivers to get it working.
Try deleting the sound card entries in the mutlimedia devices in control panel and then reboot. If it comes up with finding new hard ware on reboot then don't let it and install the drivers yourself once into windows. Remember to do it all as administrator or things will go pear shaped.
I think that was what i did but it was quite a while ago. I do remember that i thought it hadn't worked and was resigned to this fact and then all of a sudden without really doing anything it was all happy.

For the modem to work in NT4.0 it must be on Com 2, IRQ 3. Don't ask me why, it just does.
