i have a new scsi-driven cd-r and an ide or eide 36x cd-rom drive. the cd-r will read and write data from my system's files but not write or copy audio from the cd-rom drive. i use the adaptec write/duplicate software. in my system, my cd-rom drive is hooked up as a slave, with my hdd as master. is this due to hardware incompatibility or connection/installation error? thanks.

I have a similar setup at work.
SCSI CD-R, SCSI hdd, IDE CD-ROM (master) w/ zip as slave
No problems doing anything at all. I use Adaptecs software too. I don't really have a fix but thought this might bring you a little closer to the answer. Good luck.

Gret,
You didnt mention any brand names so I can not tell you for sure on your setup but there are LOTS of CD's that do not support Audio extraction. You might need to get a different cd.
