A long story! I installed a Yamaha CDRW2100EZ. I had no problems except it would only burn about 3/4 of one song on a CDR then quit and close. I read in the manual where I should go into device manager, double click on Yamaha CDRW2100EZ, and change the settings by checking DMA. This was a major mistake. Windows then told me to re-boot. I did, but Windows would only boot-up in Safe Mode. When I got back into Windows, I had this "brilliant" idea of deleting Yamaha CDRW2100EZ from device manager. This was even a bigger mistake. Now, the Bios finds the CDRW but Windows 98 will not and I can't find any drivers to install it manually. To use the computer I have to keep the CDRW unplugged.
I later learned my real problem of not being able to burn a whole CD was not having a 300 MHz processor. That problem has been resolved with a new main board and a AMD 500 MHz processor which I installed myself with no one's help. I have so many unbacked up programs (I was going to use the burner.) that I can not afford to uninstall Windwos 98 and re-intall it. ( I've tried re-installing Windows without uninstalling. Can anyone help me?
