I was wondering if anyone could reccomend Where and How to start my own personal webpage? Does anyone give free space? Can you believe i have never set one up or used one. :0 ohh well got to start sometime... or do I http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Here is the deal, before you try a freeserver, check your ip policy to make sure they don't give you space... mine sent an email of personal space upgrade from 2 to 20, and I'm like, "Oh, we have space?"
If you don't have it through your ip, try www.8m.com (http://www.8m.com) - they worked well for me for a while.

If you want to get your feet wet, you can always try geocities or angelfire. You can sign up free for 3mb of webspace through yahoo and they have templates, holiday pages, etc you can put up immediately. Nothing really fancy, and they slap banners on your page, but it's a start. No html required either, but you can upload JPG's

...... and after you get your free space, go to http://www.htmlgoodies.com for info on how to set up/create a web site. they have lots of good stuff there - its where i learned to write html...

Also when you have your site invest in Dreamweaver 3 or wait a few weeks and buy a cheap copy of Dreamweaver 2 there should be quite a few people upgrading by then and Macro's upgrades don't seem to require originals for upgrade to install, so a lot of user sell their older version on.

I recently did my first page...used geocities. I used MS Front Page97. It was easy to use but for some reason, you can't publish to geocities using the FTP within the program. I used CuteFTP. Is there another site out there that is FP97 enabled? It sure would be nice to publish changes only...
