do I have a bad mic?

I have an HP7090 w/ a built in mic on monitor
went to aolhp tech supprt pg
settings are ok and mic is checkd in the sound recorder properties
Still no waves come up as though recording sound//

I would appitiated a list of possible issues
& resolutions to them


Any information would be greatly appreciated

These are obvious solutions but double-check that the mic cable is plugged into the correct jack and also that the 'Microphone' section on the sound applet isn't Muted.

Do you by chance have another mic to plugin to test?

Yeh I would recheck settings in multimedia properties, in control panel. The record settings may have an advanced tab - the line in may be muted or the slider may be set too low. Does your soundcard have its own equalizer, my SBL does and these settings will also disable the mic.
