My computer had windows 98 and then I installed system commander 2000(it's a boot manager/partition software). I then installed Windows 2000 which has it's own boot manager and after that whistler.
The problem is getting the each partition to boot from SC2000 boot menu instead of going into the 2000/whistler menu.
Anybody know how to get System Commander to have W2k and whistler boot directly to there partitions instead of the boot menu's ?

If you installed Whistler to it's own partition then...
1 From the System Commander main menu at boot time, press the Alt+S keys (to enter the setup)
2) select the Order, Add, and Removal menu
3) Press the Alt+A keys to add a selection.
4) highlight the partition that you would like to add, press the Alt+T to toggle the selection to a bootable status of yes.
5 Press the Esc key until you are back to the main menu
If it is not on its own partition then I don't know. System Commander does support up to 32 OSs on a single partition. I don't *think* Whistler is recognized by SC2K yet, so it wouldn't copy the right boot sector to the SC's subfolder.
You do get a free 90 day support from them

It may be simpler to reinstall Whister to its own partition. Please post your results on this.

Yeah it's on it's own partition it looks like this:
C: windows 98
D: windows 2000
E: windows whistler
whistler is just a future upgrade to windows 2000 and installs pretty much the same way as windows 2000 did.

I had this prob when I installed NT4 after all the others. The sc2k menu just doesnt appear so u cant make any additions or mods. I found if I put in the disk 1 of 2 (disks it suggests u make during install) and type scin.exe it will then include it in its own sc2k menu (maybe its just making sc2k active again I'm not sure). Most of the win, linux installs go ok but its like NT (in my case) took over. Doing the scin thing was akin to doing fdisk mbr - it seems to make it all right. U may even be able to boot up using 1 of the disks - its been a while since I have mucked about with it. The OS's have been going great in their own partitions.

I think the trick your thinking of is to boot up to the windows 98 floppy and then use the SC 2000 utility disc and punch in A:\CHECKMBR , which then reinstates sc2000 boot manager.
I tried the scin.exe but couldn't get it to work using the floppies I made.
****, the scin.exe always works for me. I tried the link above (DVNT1) and found what I was trying to say here (method 3) http://www.v-com.com/support/faqsgen5.html
Have u checked out the faq's? http://www.v-com.com/support/faqsc2K.html

Just boot from the sc utility disk 1. It will restore the sc memory. I had the same problem this weekend! Once the memory is restored remove the disk and reboot, sc menu should appear.
