I'm getting a windows startup error missing device driver WIMMUN32.VXD and it refers to an old antivirus program. I've been working on my friend's Packard Bell, I noticed a program called Iris Antivirus coming up in the tray. I could find the program but there wasn't any uninstall feature. Went to remove programs in control panel and it wasn't listed. Did search and deleted all files with it; checked sys.ini and autoexec and made sure there were no entries. Check registry with basic search and deleted key; and still get that **** startup error message. I suspect I may have to figue out how to download this program if I can find it. It's probably "welded" deep in his PB restore disk. If I have to, I guess I could stick the Device statement back in the sys.ini but don't want to. On the positive side, he is now using Norton AV 2001.

When you checked the autoexec.bat and system.ini files, was it in something like notepad, or did you check it in msconfig? If you didn't use msconfig, do this:
Click on Start>Run. Type "msconfig" (without the quotes), then look for the last tab on the right. Should say "Startup Items" or something equivalent. See if there's anything in there that references the deleted program. If there is, uncheck it.
Another idea. Did your friend get NAV 2001, or Norton SystemWorks 2001 (NSW)? If he got NSW, run windoctor. That might find the problem and fix it.
Good luck!
