I hope those of you in control (you know who you are http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif) don't mind me posting this a second time. I posted it as a reply to another message but thought it is worthy of it's own thread because it's so easy (for even the novice) to do and has been one of the most useful Windoze tips I've ever used.

Here's a GREAT (IMHO) Windoze tip that I've found extremely useful over the years. You've only got to remember one key combination: [CTRL]+[ESC]

Ya see, [CTRL]+[ESC] always brings up your Start Menu. Now the key to this tip is to name the shortcuts in your Start Menu with a number/letter prefix. Then you can just hit that number/letter and "ba-da-bing ba-da-bang" start that application.

Here's my Start Menu:

As an example, to run Notepad I would just hit ctrl+esc (which brings up the menu) then hit 2 (starts Notepad).

Simple to do and a great time saver once you get in the habit of using it.

Thumbs Plus 4.0, great image viewer. Let's you do many basic editing functions to images (crop, convert formats, color depth, etc.), and give you a nice library of thumbnail images of your graphics. A "can't live without" utility IMO.

Check it out here: http://www.cerious.com/

instead of ctrl + esc you could hit your windows key too...ha, I mean if you're trying to save time you might as well go all the way. Personally I use shortcut keys (ex. ctrl + alt + I to open icq). For those that don't know how to set them; You just right click the program in the start menu you want a shortcut key for and enter properties....then you just click in the shortcut key box and type the letter you want. It adds the ctrl + alt automaticly.

Thanks OuT,
I think I might just get that on my wish list from "her in Doors" and then get her the Beta for her Power Mac as they are giving a free upgrade to finished version when released, She's really into all this DTP and graphics,( some thing to do with her work with Pre Press and the mags her employers Company put out)
